ARA-290, also known as Cibinetide or pHBSP, is a synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide derived from research into a specific region of the erythropoietin molecule.

Erythropoietin is a naturally occurring protein best known for its role in red-blood-cell biology. Researchers subsequently identified regions of the molecule associated with other signalling pathways and used this work to develop smaller synthetic peptide sequences for more targeted laboratory investigation.

ARA-290 was developed from the helix-B region of erythropoietin and is therefore sometimes described in scientific literature as a helix-B surface peptide.
